MU’AZU JAJI SAMBO FNIOB, MCORBON, MNIM, CON, was born on the 7th of September, 1959 in Jalingo, Taraba State. He hails from Taraba State.

Young Sambo attended Muhammadu Nya Primary School, Jalingo and Federal Government College, Maiduguri, where he obtained a WASCE Grade One Distinction.

Sambo studied Building at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and graduated with a Second Class Upper Division. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Building, member of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (MCORBON), and the Nigerian Institute of Management.


In August 1984, Sambo began his working career with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and rose to become Senior Civil Engineer.
By June of 1987 he had moved to Savannah Bank of Nigeria Plc as Senior Manager (Projects) and later as Senior Manager (Banking Operations/Credit). He made subsequent career moves to Allied Bank of Nigeria Plc as Assistant General Manager (Administration), NICON Insurance Corporation and finally as General Manager, Lagos Zone, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), where he meritoriously retired from the public service in September, 2019.


Mu’azu Jaji Sambo’s political trajectory saw him as a foundation member of the All Peoples Party (APP) in Taraba State where he aspired for the Taraba State Governorship seat in 1999.

In the 2003 Presidential election, Sambo was the Taraba State Collation Centre Agent of the Presidential Candidate of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Rtd, as he was then known.

Mu’azu Jaji Sambo was appointed Minister of State by the President, Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR on December 24, 2021 and posted to the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. On the 6th of July 2022, he was reassigned to the Ministry of Transportation as the Minister of Transportation.

In the run-up to the 2023 general elections, he was appointed as the Taraba State Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council which saw the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
